Destination idea for Easter Half Term: Milan & Lake Como

Last Easter we were searching for some cheap flights and we came across very cheap £30 each flights to Milan. We've both been to various places across Italy before but neither of us had done the Milan area. We were blessed with stunning weather when we were at Lake Como and one rainy day out of three in Milan. All I can say is pack for all eventualities! Milan being more northerly does get wetter weather than southern and central cities like Florence and Rome. If you are going for a few days use your middle full day as your day to do Lake Como. Get the early train and get there atleast 20 minutes early as they fill up FAST. You can get breakfast from the station, there were various cafes selling pastries and there is a multitude of places to get lunch from once you arrive in Varenna.

Who are we & Why now?

Hello all, welcome to our family travel community, we will be exploring and sharing the minefield that is travelling as a Neurodiverse family with young children. Laugh and get some inspiration with us along the way. I’m Erin, a nearly 30 year old mum of two, married to my husband Ashley. Archie and Rosie (5&6 on writing this first entry) have had a pretty bloody good last couple of years being chauffeured around by us on various trips! Archie is Autistic and we have had a bit of a whirlwind last year in terms of navigating his schooling recently. Where he will end up? Where is right for him? It’s really shown you just do not know what is round the corner, thus we decided to press the fuck it button and begin enjoying ourselves more. Moreover, this means we will be sharing some tips along the way about accessible travel, recommendations, itineraries etc for all kinds of families. We just decided we are just so not fussed by moving house, getting a new flash car, neither of us are materialistic, so we have been putting all our spare pennies into amazing adventures and memories. Plus Ash got me up the duff after three months of us being together so we hardly got that ‘honeymoon stage’ to do this pre children! Why not involve them? My motto is parenting is hard anywhere you are, why not make it more enjoyable with core memories, beautiful surroundings, a cheeky drink in hand. It’s cliche but they really do deserve to see the world too. When you have kids so many people say ‘your life is over now’ well what crap that is. Ours is just beginning, let’s do this together. I will be sharing weekly entries and itineraries - there’s no sugar coating things here so if you want some real ideas and opinions, follow along.
